Look! I won an award! Business Book Awards, 2023. I am the winner of the Sales & Marketing category! I am thrilled and humbled to have won this prestigious award, especially considering the worthy competition.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to all the BBA judges for recognizing my book and to my publisher Kogan Page for their support and belief in my work. I also want to thank them for collecting the award on my behalf as I am currently at home recovering from the flu.

While I have not yet received the judges’ comments, I believe I know why my book, ‘Using Semiotics in Retail,’ won in the Sales & Marketing category. The book showcases how brand owners and retailers can create exceptional and compelling shopping experiences that resonate with consumers, both now and in the future. My book features Unilever substantially, and I was delighted to learn that Keith Sleight credited it with ‘more or less doubling’ the sales uplift from Unilever’s in-house shopper marketing app. This recognition confirms my belief that semiotics is a powerful tool that can make a significant difference and drive sales growth.

I would also like to thank Christopher Cudmore, Joanna McDowall, Bruna Sperotto, and everyone who encouraged me to apply. I don’t typically apply for awards, and I am grateful for their support and encouragement.

Overall, winning the BBA award for Sales & Marketing is a fantastic achievement, and I am thrilled to have been recognized for my work. I am looking forward to receiving my trophy, and I am excited to continue using semiotics to help businesses create meaningful and memorable shopping experiences that delight and engage their customers.
